Frequently Asked Questions
EVENT QUESTIONS
What's the deal with this Hall anyway?
This property was acquired by a non-profit corporation affiliated with Knights of Columbus Council 539 in 1919. Major modifications to the property were made in 1963 and the legal niceties went through some other revisions over time. However in all those years, the Hall has had as its sole purpose the furtherance of Catholic culture. It is NOT nor ever has it ever been a commercial property, but always a religious one. We are grateful to have the opportunity to share use of this precious legacy to all people of good will, with the understanding that our resources are limited and use of the property incurs cost for us. That being said, we will always vigorously defend the sacred nature of this place.
What type of events can be held at the Hall?
Since the Hall is specifically Catholic, everything that is not opposed to the Catholic faith is welcome and anything actively opposed to the faith as once delivered (please refer to the Baltimore Catechism which is the common understanding of said faith by those who established and preserved the Hall) - even in the smallest way - is absolutely prohibited.
May we remove or cover any of the Catholic items on display?
No. The Hall is a multi-generational expression of Catholic community in Denver and removing or covering those items would be disrespectful to our predecessors who built and maintained the Hall over the generations and furthermore a grave betrayal of our fundamental purpose.
Are children welcome at events at the Hall?
Yes. Being a Catholic institution, we place a priority on family. This includes the principle that parents and all adults have responsibility to look out for the safety of children in their care.
BAR QUESTIONS
May we bring our own alcoholic beverages?
No, Never. We are subject to Caesar and that would be a violation of the Hall's liquor license. We are, though, glad to order beer, wine, and spirits of your choice within reason. No Louis XIV brandy for example because it's just too expensive.
Do you have a full bar and most wines?
We have a good, but limited, selection of spirits and 8-10 wines all the time
What if we don't use all the special order alcoholic beverages at the event?
The Hall is not licensed for off site sales so they would remain the property of the Hall, who is in any event legal owner of them until they've been sold in a drink for a guest.
What if I really want more of the special order drinks?
The Hall hosts social hours open to the public each Thursday (certain holidays excepted) from 5:30 to 8:30 during which we sell drinks at a very reasonable price
May we bring our own bartender(s)?
No
How many beer taps do you have?
Six - The beer fridges are configured for firkins, rather than for larger kegs. We can also include bottled or canned beer at any event
If we have a cash bar does the bar at the Hall accept payment with cash or card?
Yes to both, provided the payment is in dollars.
Do you accept bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies?
No.
Is there a designated area for smoking or vaping tobacco? and is there an area where alcoholic beverages may be consumed outdoors?
Yes, guests who are of legal age are welcome to drink alcoholic beverages on the patio to the east of the main entrance.
Yes, guests who are of legal age are welcome to smoke or vape tobacco on the patio to the east of the main entrance.
Is there a designated area for use of cannabis?
No. Since the Hall is committed to authentic practice of the Catholic faith as clearly and steadfastly proclaimed by the Archbishop of Denver (as of this writing his excellency Samuel J. Aquila), cannabis may not be used at the Hall
KITCHEN / HALL QUESTIONS
May we do our own cooking?
Yes, that's great. If you do so this includes for the kitchen to be cleaned.
May we bring in our own food for the event?
Yes. We actually prefer it, this reduces the opportunity for misunderstandings.
Can you help us find someone to do the cooking for us?
We can make a good faith effort to help, but there is no guarantee.
Will you set up and take down the tables and chairs per our specifications? What about decorations?
There are many different arrangement we can make for set up and clean up
With the rectangular tables how many people can we host while including a small dance floor?
The bulk of our tables are all 5 ft rounds, but we have been able to accommodate 23 tables ( 184 guests) with a good sized dance floor as well. We can likely accommodate more if needed but I would say 200 seated with catering tables and a dance floor would be about the max.
How long in advance of the event itself do we have access to the Hall for decorating, cooking, etc.?
This will vary based on the other events already on the calendar, so this question must be answered on a case-by-case basis by a representative of the Hall.
Parking and Payment Questions
We invoice using square, and also accept check or cash.
Is there free parking at any time?
